Vanessa Juarez


Age: 15   Wt: 114 lbs.

Fifteen year old Vanessa Juarez is one of four children. She has one older brother and a younger sister and brother. Vanessa has always been very athletic. When she was 5 yrs old she started playing soccer and received the M.V.P. award for her team 2 yrs in a row. She also was awarded the most aggressive player on her co-ed team. When she turned 8 she started boxing, trying to follow in her brothers' foot steps. Since then, both her brothers quit boxing because they couldn't handle the hard workouts.

Her father, Paul Juarez is the head coach of the Fort Worth Boxing Club, and her mother Rachel, is an official for USA Boxing. It was easy for Vanessa to fit right in to the whole boxing scene. They are a boxing family!

Vanessa started boxing in 1997 and was the first female in the history of the Fort Worth Golden Gloves to box and win. She is currently ranked #1 in the United States in her age and weight category. Her career record to date is 47-4, and has qualified for the Junior Olympics next summer.

In her six years boxing, she has won championships in: Three Ringside Nationals, five Silver Gloves State Tournaments, five regional Golden Gloves, 2003 Women's National Golden Gloves (where she was the only female from the state of Texas to box and win), 2003 Texas Female Championships, 2003 USA Woman's Nationals where she stopped a girl from Puerto Rico 1 min 15 sec in the first round, She has 3 belts and numerous trophies. Her dream is to be able to compete in the Olympics, and to be able to fight for a world title belt . She would like to be the first female from Fort Worth Texas to have a world title belt.

Vanessa also enjoys playing softball, and basketball for her High school. She made the varsity team her freshman year!
